If storage space on your backup tapes is no concern you are fine with continuing to do daily full backups. Exchange management tools are also installed on both exchange (64 x)and media server (32 x). I have the BackupExec server and management console on AD1, with the Agent for Windows and Applications on both EXCH1 and EXCH2.
I have been getting good backups of the information store, and have done restores?
FWIW I started using Microsoft DPM while I waited for new budget money to kick in and... My setup is not clustered and I still cannot view the store even by browsing via the domain in BE. Do you use something else that does support Exchange 2013, that you can recommend? Check your Backup Exec job logs to see if your backups are actually completing successfully and investigate any warnings or errors. What I am planning to do is remove the BE Exchange agent and to reinstall it. I installed VMWare esxi on the sever, restored my Active Directory then Exchange 2003 onto different VMs, snapshotted everything and did the complete Exchange 2010 migration about 7 or 8 times
