Backup Exec Cannot Eject Tape
Pls pinpoint to the MOST APPROPRIATE METHOD, rather that guessing this and that. Allow the activity light to stop flashing and go to solid before attempting to eject the tape. Due to this missiong feature the tape support is useless for us and our customers, if i have to do all manually.BTW: This error appears after i started a file backup Inventoring tapes works fine, but i cannot eject them. If a tape was just inserted, the drive must complete the loading process before beginning the unload process. check that
This Symantec article explains how to stop the Symantec Backup Exec services. Some software packages issue a Prevent Media Removal to prevent accidental unloading of the tape drive during a backup (the unload button was hit accidentally). Otherwise, no problems adding this feature for any tape drive that supports this command. During a reset, the drive must complete resetting itself before processing the unload button request.

Some tape drive models allow you to reset the drive manually.
if it's using the BE ones then the post SP2 updates won't make any difference to device operations. All four lights on the front of the drive should be on solid. Thanks! You are running 10.1d which I don't think is even supported any more by Symantec. If media is detected in the drive the newer firmware update will try to eject the media before the firmware update.
