Thanks for your input. What is UPG?4. All files are on the right places and BDE alias have right path to the database. But when I try to start application I get a message: BDE Error 8458 - Cannot

I can access the BDE data simultaneously using MS Excel and Access without any problem. Votes: 0 0 0 0 0 Rating: 1 2 3 4 5 1=Poor, 5=Excellent Download Trial Buy Now Download Delphi10 now! Are you aComputer / IT professional?Join Tek-Tips Forums! If you trace into idapi32.dll (CPU window), you might find that the call OsGetSharedPtr fails. However, as soon as I tried to run an older version of my .exe at the same time as a new version of my .exe, I got the message. http://www.delphigroups.info/1/7/19470.html I'm using BDE/Paradox with Timeslips.

This was reproduced using only Database Desktop and DB Explorer, and also reported to Borland. While in the designer the data is live and functional.

I cannot simultaneously run different apps/processes without locking the driver. 3. any ideas? I can work around the problem by using different data connection techniques in VB.net and I can use xBase drivers in Crystal Reports to access data without going near the BDE. Check This Out It gives the BDE error 15877 : "Cannot load driver" as you've >>>seen.

I'm using the Idapi drivers in Crystal 10.5 and it doesn't seen to cause this problem. This started after installing SP2 for Windows XP. Let >me know if there is anything I can do to help. > >Was Borland able to reproduce it? > >Thanks! >Matt Kilbride - IQMS > Jeff Vega Delphi Developer

I was thinking that maybe when accessing level 7 tables though ADO/ODBC, that it was using the BDE for some reason but I also tried level 5 tables with the same

I tried the solution suggested earlier about re-setting the SYSFLAGS value, but this did not work in my case. Microsoft needs to fix the bug in the SP so that everything still works. I have my paths ok and have copied the sqlora8.dll everywhere I can think of, and it still doens't work? This error only happened when I connected the report to a BDE table. http://mediastartpage.com/bde-cannot/bde-cannot-load-an-idapi-service-library-sqlora8-dll.html Instead, it's idapi32.SetPrivateDir -> idapi32.SysLoadDriver ->[...] ->idpdx32.PDrvInit ->idapi32.OsGetSharedPtr Other than bugging MS some more, I don't know if there's anything ANY of us can do.

Of course, I don't have access to any build later than 2149 to verify, but I suppose it's still good news. -- Jeff Virgo Prna Delphi Developer 2004-07-13 10:05:25 PM Latest Comments View AllAdd NewRSSATOM Move mouse over comment to see the full text Reply Posted by Willie Swanepoel on Oct 16 2009Cannot load an IDAPI service libraryCannot load an IDAPI This was reproduced using only Database Desktop and DB Explorer, >and also reported to Borland. > >Hope this helps, >-- Jeff Jeff Vega Delphi Developer 2004-07-09 05:50:27 AM Re:"Cannot load Also, what release of the BDE are you using?
