I tried to access those network shares by appending the fully qualified domain name FQDN at the end of the share name, as well as entering in the IP addresss manually. Because of this, the computer cannot authenticate itself to the domain controller(s), and thus you get this error. I did not set the DNS suffix for those workstations beforehand, and they joined without any problems. I have System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) that has real-time protection turned on. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/68a3f2d0-8811-4748-9470-568149193b0a/cannot-join-windows-7-to-domain-even-after-setting-dns-to-domain-controller-ip?forum=w7itpronetworking
